We’re Growing our Team!

Youth First Justice Collaborative is excited to announce that Taylor Campbell will be joining our growing team as Head of Communications Strategy! Taylor brings a wealth of experience and passion for justice storytelling to YFJC, and we’re excited to have him on board to elevate our message and amplify the voices of system-impacted youth.

Taylor is a seasoned creative storyteller with more than a decade of experience leading strategic communications for organizations like Movement for Black Lives and National Bailout Collective’s #FreeBlackMamas Mothers Day bailout initiative. Throughout his career, Taylor has consistently demonstrated a commitment to creating powerful narratives alongside directly impacted communities.

Before joining YFJC, Taylor served as the Director of Communications and Digital for Worth Rises, where he spearheaded the development of “The Curriculum,” a comprehensive 15-week course dissecting the layered public and private partnerships that comprise the prison industry. He has collaborated with hundreds of advocates, from system survivors to hourly essential workers, to ensure their stories are heard and their voices shape the fight for justice.

Taylor’s approach to communications is defined by a fierce commitment to challenging perspectives through radical co-creation. This aligns perfectly with YFJC’s mission to empower youth in their organizing to dismantle the school-to-prison pipeline.

In addition to welcoming Taylor, the Youth First Justice Collaborative is excited to announce that Susan Wilcox will be joining the team as a consultant on Learning and Evaluation. With her decades of experience in youth organizing, liberation education, and transdisciplinary approaches, Susan will bring invaluable expertise to our work.

Lastly, the Youth First Justice Collaborative is excited to announce the formation of its inaugural Advisory Board, a growing group of experienced and dedicated leaders in the field of youth justice. The board will provide guidance, support, and expertise to our ongoing efforts to abolish youth prisons and create meaningful alternatives for youth who experience the criminal legal system.

As our team continues to grow both internally and externally, our partners are continuing to mobilize for youth in states across the country. We’re excited to convene with many of these state partners in October at our first Grassroots Assembly since re-launching as the Youth First Justice Collaborative. We’re ecstatic about the year ahead and ready to build a future without youth prisons.
