This moment has been a long time coming, and its rooted in a truth we all know well: young people have always been at the frontlines of organizing for change. From the Black Panthers, the Young Lords, and the American Indian Movement, to the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, youth have consistently shaped the path toward liberation. that same leadership lives on today, with young organizers across the country showing us what it means to fight for freedom and build power.
Block x Block was created to carry that legacy forward. To double down on investing in the next generation of organizers, abolitionists, and power builders.
This 12-month hybrid paid fellowship will bring together eight (8) directly impacted young leaders affiliated with YFJC. Fellows will sharpen their political analysis, strengthen their organizing skills, and practice abolitionist leadership in community with one another.
The Fellowship is a good fit if you are:
- Between the ages of 17-25
 - Directly impacted by the youth or adult legal system
 - Interested and committed to participating in the fellowship experience including all commitments
 - Invested in learning with and from others with a shared vision to become stronger organizers and leaders
 - Familiar with the basics of organizing and base building: What is organizing, a campaign, base building, and your organization working on
 - In alignment with YFJCs principles and values
